Malacca flexible with deadline to reduce pigs

PUTRAJAYA: The Malacca state government will be flexible in its deadline to reduce the number of pigs in farms at three areas in the state, if farmers keep to their word.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the state government was working on the Cabinet’s directive to find an ideal formula to reduce the number of pigs at farms that did not have proper sanitary standards.
He added that he had met Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam on Wednesday and was told that they were negotiating on a schedule to move the pigs out of the state.
“The parties involved have agreed on a schedule to move the pigs and this schedule is now being discussed with the state government.
“The state government has agreed to be flexible, including in the deadline, to solve this issue, provided the farmers kept to their promises,” he told reporters here on Thursday after witnessing the signing of an agreement between Felda and Indonesia’s PT Kalpataru Investama on the planting of oil palm in East Kalimantan.
Najib was asked to comment on the Malacca Government’s decision to reduce the number of pigs in Kampung Bukit Beruang, Kampung Man Lok and Paya Mengkuang areas to 48,000 by Thursday.
The deadline to reduce the number of pigs from 140,000 to 48,000 was agreed upon when the state government called off an operation to cull pigs two weeks ago.
The farmers’ plan to sell off 2,500 pigs a day hit a snag as other states blocked the entry of pigs from Malacca, following which, the Federation of Chinese Associations of Malaysia (Hua Zong) said it would bring the matter up with the Prime Minister and his deputy.
Meanwhile, in Malacca on Wednesday, two pig farmers filed an application at the High Court to review a notice issued by the Alor Gajah local council to demolish their farm pens in Bukit Beruang, Paya Mengkuang and Bukit Bumbun in Alor Gajah.
Lim Oh Poh and Ye Kim On sought a judicial review of the Aug 21 notice requiring them to demolish within a month, the farm pens constructed without prior written permission of the council.
Lim said the council had sent him a letter claiming that the farm buildings did not have a plan but after the plans were submitted, the council claimed he had broken the rules and rejected his application.

Apakah penyelesaian terbaik kes pembunuhan tersebut dan kes-kes yang lain. Hanya undang-undang Islam yang mampu mencegah segala permasalahan tersebut. Manakala penerapannya tidak lain dan tidak bukan hanyalah setelah tertegaknya sistem politik Islam al-Khilafah. Ayuh, bersama kita tegakkannya!!
