MISC unit aims to lead in LNG tanker repair market

PASIR GUDANG: Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE), a subsidiary of MISC Bhd, wants to emerge as one of the leading players in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker and dry-docking repair market.
MISC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican said MMHE was currently one of the few shipyards in this region with the facilities and skills for the specialised field of work.
“It is well positioned to secure a larger portion of the repair works which were previously dominated by Japanese and South Korean shipyards,” he said at the naming ceremony of MISC’s 25th LNG tanker, called Seri Ayu, by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday.
Among those present at the event were Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, MISC president and chief executive officer Datuk Shamsul Azhar Abbas and MMHE managing director and chief executive officer Wan Yusoff Wan Hamat.
He said in the financial year ended March 31, 2007 (FY07), the shipyard had performed 10 LNG tanker repairs and dry-docking activities.

Scheduled to repair a total of 13 tankers in FY08, it has so far undertaken nine jobs.
“MMHE is capable in this specialised field and, hopefully, more shipowners will consider using the shipyard for their future LNG tanker repairs and dry-docking,” Hassan said.

Langsung ia tidak menyatakan kapal itu milik siapa sebenarnya, tapi hanya mengaitkan sebagai tanker MISC. sedarkah anda bahawa pada lori minyak petronas dan shell tidak lagi tercatat nama syarikat minyak itu sebagai pemegang permit. semuanya di sewa.
sudah pasti begitulah ceritanya dengan kapal tanker, dalam konteks malaysia.
ingatkah lagi anda mengenai berita tabung industri maritim negara sebanyak beratus-ratus juta telah lesap dan hutang tidak dibayar ? di sinilah tersurat rahsianya. dah sudah tentu usahawan global seperti Badiulazmi Razali bukan dari kalangan yang berjaya mendapat pinjaman itu......... ......... .....
saya ada mengenali seorang "pengusaha kapal". dulunya ada enam biji. ini bukan bot ikan, atau feri mersing punya cerita. ini cerita "tanker chartering" punya hal......... .
dan tidak mustahil sekarang pihak atasan sedang menggubal konsep sapubersih bagi penyediaan pesawat untuk MAS pula........ .........
kita ini, bas sekolah pun tak mampu beli........ ......
